In September of 2019, Honda was the first major automaker to make a sponsor appearance at a major gaming convention for TwitchCon San Diego. To help our audience connect with and understand why Honda is involved in gaming, we created the hashtag, #AlwaysPlayAgain, to contrast Honda's brand mentality of "always pushing forward" with the gamer's mindset of "continuing even after a win or loss."

Under this hashtag, we created 4 weeks of social content all centered around gaming. The efforts culminated with livestreams from the Honda booth at TwitchCon which included interviews with Team Liquid athletes.

30 Years of gaming

To kick off this month of content, our hero piece stitched together VHS, DVD, and live captured gaming footage to create a race through 30 years of Hondas in gaming.

 
 

Gaming sticker packs

Working with GIPHY artists, we created four unique themed sticker packs, each based around a familiar gaming genre. The stickers allowed users to customize their photos and vehicles with 8-bit and low polygon elements.

8-bit Boomerangs

Not all Hondas got the 8-bit treatment they deserved. These boomerangs converted car photography into 8-bit gaming scenes.

For additional social content, we created question and answer posts based on facts about Hondas in gaming.

In the days leading up to TwitchCon, we released short form videos featuring quotes from various Team Liquid athletes in the spirit of “Always Play Again” to promote our booth at the convention. The day before the event, our post announced that Team Liquid athlete “HungryBox” would be at the booth to compete against convention attendees.
